Laurel Nakai
Some days I am a singer-songwriter, most I am a mother, often I am a writer. I love to tackle relevant issues and look at things through a new perspective. I am always interested in opposing viewpoints and the resilience of the human spirit. I believe there is a deep well of wisdom and truth in all of us, and that the writer is brave—or foolish—enough to try to explain it. Most days, I would rather be at the ocean, but I’ll settle for a cup of coffee and a good book, or coffee with friends, coffee at the park with the kids...really anything that involves coffee.
My work has been featured in literary journals including the Rain, Party, & Disaster Society, and Red Fez. I am also a contributing writer for onmogul.com, and founder of Paper Dove Press, an independent publishing company that will release my first children's book in January 2016. You can find links to my other work and connect with me on my blog at laurelnakai.com and on twitter @laurelnakai.
