Get Active: Just Do It

All right, no sugar coating here. Just do it already. Sure, we could come up with a bunch of reasons and inspiring analogies about why exercise is good for you, but that would just fool you into thinking you’ve done something about it. You may be inspired, but will you do it?

Stop reading this, pick an exercise, and do it now. For those of you who still need convincing, read on, but don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Your Body is Your Temple

What if someone really super religious is telling you that you need more prayer in your life, but you’d rather just go out and run? Well, you might refer them to Corinthians 6:20 where the Bible tells you to “glorify God in your body”. We are actually supposed to take care of our bodies, and for good reason: “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God” (Corinthians 6:19).

Exercise is sometimes the only activity, and the only time and place, where you are completely alone and in the zone. Remember you are recreating yourself. As you exercise, you release all those wonderful endorphins, and physically reshape yourself into something new.

So take care of your body, and give it to God!

Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way

Still reading? Well that proves the next point. The first step is always the hardest: making it to the gym, or even just tying your running shoes. The Divine Principle explains, “the body is a visible reflection of the invisible mind”. A fit body is the result of a structured mind. Your mind pushes your body to do more than what it thinks it is capable of doing, which is a great way to achieve unity between your mind and body. Once you get moving, that’s the moment when everything else in the world stops, and you work toward becoming your best, both physically and mentally. So make up your mind to get moving, and stick to it!

Still need more inspirational stimulus to get going? Stop reading, play some music, and start dancing!
