Your Summer Roadtrip Playlist By DP LIfe

Without music, a road trip is just a long car ride. There is something special about hearing our favorite songs wafting through our stereo as we cruise down the highway that creates the ideal environment for a spiritual journey as well as a physical one. Here at DP Life, we are all about taking things deeper, and since we know that the media we consume impacts our outlook on life, it’s worth the time and effort to choose songs that really move us!

We’ve pulled together a varied playlist for all your summer adventures! Check it out on 8tracks.com, but first, turn up your speakers and enjoy a few highlights:

Beckah Shae - Life

Whether it’s those first steps out the door, the race to the right train platform, or the late night push to cram in a few more miles before calling it a day, there comes a time in our travels when we need pumping up, and the right song turned up loud can do precisely that!

“Life” by Jewish-Christian singer Beckah Shae takes an upbeat, urban-pop sound and injects it with a strong message of altruistic mindfulness that will take listeners by surprise. It reminds us that when we choose to live with positivity and a desire to serve others, the world becomes a brighter, richer place.

For more songs with a strong beat that will keep you moving forward, check out BarlowGirl`s “Come Alive.”

Sail the Boat - If

Settling into our train or plane seat or hitting a long stretch of highway, we find ourselves at a perfect moment to turn inward. A mellow, thought-provoking song can provide an ideal environment to recharge ourselves spiritually, and to ask ourselves the questions we may have been too busy to approach until now.

The music of up and coming Indie/Alternative Rock band Sail the Boat provides a great place to start that process. Their song “If” is an eloquent reminder us that we cannot experience a journey without venturing away from the familiar. Like a candle to a flame, the insights and experiences we seek can come more quickly and strongly than expected, but as we mentioned in our packing list, the best thing to do is go with it - you never know where it will take you!

For more insightful, thought provoking songs, give India.Arie’s “One” or Ray LaMontagne’s “Within You” a listen.

Jack Johnson - Better Together

No playlist is complete without a couple of classics, and perennial favorite Jack Johnson fits this category like a glass of lemonade fits in your hand on a hot afternoon. With its playful, swinging melody and heartfelt lyrics about wanting to enjoy life`s journey alongside the ones we love, “Better Together” makes our playlist, simply, better.

For more inspiring songs that are perfect for moseying along, try Kari Jobe`s “Joyfully” and Michael Franti`s “Long Ride Home.”

Sleeping at Last - In the Embers

For those peaceful final miles of the day driven just as the sun sets, there is nothing better than a relaxing, heartfelt piece of music that gently accompanies us through the last moments of our day, something that puts us in a peaceful, prayerful mood as we finish the day.

“In the Embers” by Illinois-based Indie band Sleeping At Last explores our journey through life and death, both as individuals and collectively as the human race. We dedicate our finite time on earth to the great struggle of leaving something behind, of creating a legacy that can bring hope to our Heavenly Parent. When we choose to use our lives for others, we realize that, while our own individual lives are short, those beautiful things which make us human never die.

Try India.Arie’s - Soulbird Rise or Mary Chapin Carpenter’s 10,000 Miles for more music to end your day with.
