The 3 Key Foundations of Indepedence Day
Everyone knows the fourth of July is a time to celebrate, enjoy a cookout with friends and watch the fireworks with awe. However it is also a time to reflect with gratitude on the many blessings bestowed upon this great country, and the people who fought hard to build our homeland. America has come a long way, from its roots of freedom-seekers, to the ups and downs of the eras, to the real “land of the free” it is today.
America now
Throughout history, people have fought for God, making great strides toward the freedom of faith, equality, harmony among all people, and the installation of laws that govern according to goodness and truth. America, who gained her independence 238 years ago, was founded specifically upon a trust in God. Because of this, America’s independence is thanks to God, and for the sake of the world. With great blessings comes the great responsibility of sharing them.
We have a lot to look back on and be grateful for, but we also have much to look forward to and change. Society is still lost when it comes to practicing godly values, there is still breakdown in families, and much hurt and pain still exists. As we enjoy everything we have this 4th of July, let’s also stand strong and fight for what God still wants to accomplish.
We need to find, see and hear God
Where is God? In the Creation, in scripture, in churches? These are all true, but most of all, God is in the people. God is alive in relationships, and in the hearts of every one of us. Many of the world’s problems since the beginning of humanity stemmed from conflicts in relationship, and conflicts within people for knowing between right and wrong, good and bad, true and false. The ultimate hope is that this world can heal and become God’s once again, and that each of God’s Children can embrace the divine in themselves and others.
Just as God is in the people, so is God’s Hope for a better world.
Let us inspire each other as God’s people
We are on a mission across the country to revive God’s Hope in the people of America. From city to city and state to state, we’ve met so many wonderful people. They all have a message to share, and they all play a part in living and being God’s Hope for America.
Meet Katherine Duncan, a true humanitarian and hard-working community activist. Throughout her life she has been concerned about people’s conditions, such as the plight of the inner city, homelessness, difficulties faced by veterans, and affordable energy in underserved communities. She has started many projects to address these issues, and inspired to fix the “moral fabric” of this nation.
Believe it or not, we’re making history
People like you and me are making history every day. If we can reimagine our lives with America’s potential and God’s Hope in mind, think of what we can accomplish.
As our friend, Seijin Shirotori of San Antonio, Texas, whom we met on the tour, says: “Even though it is easy to forget, our world today exists only because of all the blood, sweat and tears that were spilled by our ancestors. Without it I don’t know where we would be today. What if the Pilgrims had decided never to come to the New World? What if George Washington had just given up at Valley Forge? What if Martin Luther King Jr. had never stood up for human rights? Someday our lives will end and we will become a part of history, but our descendants will still be alive on this earth. The choices and decisions we make today are going to create the world of tomorrow. We are making history today.”
